Some say there’s a budding Kosher wine scene happening here in NYC. Don’t believe me? Why, then, could there be a sell out event, with hundreds of interested wine lovers trying over 200+ Kosher wines, for 5 years running. (Last year they say there were almost 1,500 people who attended!)
In fact, we are we seeing Kosher wine bars and Kosher wine shops popping up all around town, like:
V-Note Wine Bar on the Upper East Side serves both Vegan and Kosher wines.
Basil Pizza & Wine in Crown Heights serving a variety of kosher wines, gourmet pizzas and Mediterranean-inspired dishes under the supervision of OK Kosher Certification.
The Cellar at Darma (the city’s first wine bar nestled in a Kosher Moroccan Restaurant) opens late night on the Upper West Side, serving from an all Kosher wine/bar list.
Terroir Wine Bars also offers a list of kosher wines.
L’Chiam Kosher Wines Shop in Williamsburg sells Kosher Merlots, Cabernets, Shiraz & Rieslings.
T.B. Ackerson Wine Merchants in Flatbush go green with choices including organic, bio-dynamic and kosher wines.
Also, Murray Hill Wines, Windsor Court Wine Shop, Union Square Wines, Astor Place Wines, Bowery and Vine, Embassy Wines, Gotham Wine and First & Vine all claim to have an ample (or perhaps obscure) tasty selection of Kosher wines from which to check out.
So, it may just be time to start believing that the new regimen has arrived on the scene led by numerous smart, talented and savvy producers making Kosher wines that can stand up to others in competitions and blind tastings. You should try for yourself before you make another rash judgement that all Kosher wines taste like grape jelly: with options sourcing from France to South Africa, Israel to Australia, Argentina to California.
