Sister wine bar to Hearth restaurant (which also has an excellent wine program) this is a tiny wine haunt with 24 seats in a tiny room featuring a communal table and a slender bar. If you know wines or have a passion for learning about them, Terroir is the place for you.
The wine list – 200 vintages encased in binders wildly decorated with hipster paraphernalia including Hello Kitty stickers – also provides lessons on grape-growing regions interspersed among its pages essential reading material for the young eager crowd. Terroir’s super-knowledgeable waitstaff will help you navigate the 36 by-the-glass options. Though the list is lengthy and offers a variety of very high-end options, there are also plenty of options for simple and moderately-priced wines.

You can spend lots of time with that funky menu, too… which provides pages of interesting facts about wines, details about specific grapes and regions, and lots of other creative wine blurbs. FYI, they also offers a list of kosher wines and pages full of Riesling choices, a “house” favorite.
Though Terroir’s rustic decor is simple it boasts a boundary-smashing collection of wine and top-notch grub. And the menu of typical small bites of salads, paninis, meats and cheeses- to the upgraded versions like a melty duck ham panini to hearty veal-and-ricotta meatballs – offers an equal bit of excitement.
Terroir features a happy hour special (from 5-6pm) 6 wines at $6 a glass.
